Co-Managed IT

CO-MANAGED IT · PHOENIX
AUGMENT · NEVER REPLACE

We sit next to your IT team.
Not above them.

For Phoenix businesses with internal IT. Your team stays in charge of strategy and culture. We cover after-hours, tier-2/3 escalation, the 24/7 Security Operations Stack, and project surge capacity. The bench-strength of a 30-person MSP, behind your one-to-three-person IT team.

PORTALYour Passwords, Always Yours

Pairs with Vendor Management for telecom/SaaS ops and Hardware Maintenance for fleet programs when your internal IT needs those layers covered. Already evaluating full Managed IT? Co-Managed is the alternative for shops with an internal IT person who is too valuable to replace, and too overloaded to keep going alone.

WHY CO-MANAGED EXISTS

Your internal IT person is your best asset. And your biggest risk.

If they leave, get sick, or hit burnout. The whole company stalls. Co-managed is how you build resilience around a one-person (or small-team) IT shop without firing the people who actually know your business.

The on-call problem

Your IT person is one human. They sleep, they take vacation, their kid gets sick. When a server goes down at 11pm Friday and they’re at a wedding, what happens? We are the answer. 24/7 coverage, your runbook, no escalation gap.

The tier-2/3 ceiling

Your internal IT is great at tier-1. They know the team, the apps, the quirks. But tier-2 networking, tier-3 hypervisor work, SQL tuning, M&A integrations? Those are once-a-quarter problems. We are the bench you call when those land.

The security operations gap

Your IT person cannot also be a 24/7 SOC analyst. The math does not work. Our Security Operations Stack. Endpoint, SOC monitoring, patch management, asset and change management. Runs in parallel, not in your IT person’s queue.

The “we’d hire another, but…” problem

Adding a second internal IT person is a 6-month recruit, 6-month ramp, a 120K+ commitment, and Phoenix talent competition is brutal. Co-managed is fractional bench depth from day one, and you keep your internal owner as the strategic lead.

WHAT WE DO

Four work streams, integrated with your team’s workflow

We work in your ticketing system, your documentation tool, your communication channels. No “submit a ticket to us, then submit to your IT” handoffs. One workflow, two teams.

AFTER-HOURS

24/7 helpdesk + on-call

Your team owns business hours. We own nights, weekends, and holidays. Documented runbook hand-off so we resolve the way your team would. Not by guessing or escalating to your person at 2am.

ESCALATION

Tier-2 / tier-3 bench

Network architecture, hypervisor, M365 tenant-level, SQL, identity, M&A integrations. When your IT hits “I have not done one of these in a year”. We are the call. No retainer minimums on escalation hours.

SECURITY

Security Operations Stack

The full 6-component Security Operations Stack. Avanan, SentinelOne, Rapid7 SOC, Datto RMM, ITGlue asset + change. Running in parallel to your IT, not in their inbox. Tier-1 alerts triaged by us; only real issues escalate to your team.

SURGE

Project surge capacity

New office build, M365 migration, Windows 11 rollout, server replacement, ransomware recovery. We bring 5-15 engineers for a sprint, then disappear when it’s done. Your IT person stays focused on day-to-day instead of dropping everything for the project.

CO-MANAGED ENGAGEMENT TIERS

Three ways to integrate with your internal IT

Pick the depth that fits your team’s gap. All include working in your tools, your tickets, your documentation. No parallel systems.

HELPDESK OVERFLOW
$1,500/ month
Best for: 1-person IT team, drowning in tier-1 tickets, no after-hours coverage today
  • After-hours + weekend coverage (5pm–8am, weekends, holidays)
  • Tier-1 helpdesk overflow during business hours
  • Working in your ticketing system
  • Documented runbook follow-through
  • 10 project hours/month at $115/hr
STRATEGIC CO-MANAGED
$7,500/ month
Best for: 3+ person IT team, active growth/M&A, needs vCIO + dedicated bench
  • Everything in Full Co-Managed
  • vCIO Standard included (monthly strategic meeting, board-ready reporting)
  • Dedicated technical account manager
  • Project surge capacity (5–15 engineers on demand)
  • M&A IT due-diligence support
  • 40 project hours/month at $115/hr

All tiers month-to-month with 30 days’ notice. Annual + 3-year terms available with locked-in pricing. Project hours beyond the included monthly bucket bill at $115/hr (matches Plan 8 / Prime rate). Your internal IT keeps full ownership. We are the bench, never the boss.

CO-MANAGED BY INDUSTRY

Industries where co-managed pencils out

Most clients with internal IT come from one of these verticals. Usually because the regulator or insurer demands more than one part-time person can deliver.

HOW WE WORK

From discovery to integrated operations in 30 days

No 90-day onboarding. Your IT keeps running the show; we plug in around them.

1
FREE · 1 HR

Co-managed fit call

With your IT lead in the room. We map what they own vs. what they cannot get to. Hand-off points, communication protocols, ticketing integration, escalation rules. You leave with a written scope whether you sign or not.

2
2 WEEKS

Tooling + runbook integration

We integrate with your ticketing system, your documentation tool (we like ITGlue), your communication channels. Your runbook becomes our runbook. Identity provisioning so we can act on your behalf, with audit trail.

3
30 DAYS · THEN ONGOING

Quiet handover, then routine

Day 31 is just Tuesday. Your IT lead is still in charge. We are answering tickets after-hours, escalating to us on tier-2/3, and the SOC is running the security stack. Quarterly retro with your IT lead to refine the boundary.

CO-MANAGED QUESTIONS WE GET

Straight answers, no MSP-replacement pitch

Are you going to try to replace our internal IT person?

No. That is the entire point of this offering. We are explicitly the bench, not the boss. Your IT lead is the relationship owner; we report to them, not around them. Most of our co-managed clients have had the same internal IT for 3+ years. We help that person succeed, not displace them.

How is this different from your full Managed IT Services?

Managed IT is when you have no internal IT (or want to fully outsource). Co-Managed is when you have an internal IT person/team that you want to keep. We plug in around them. Different commercial model: co-managed is a flat monthly retainer for our bench capacity, not per-user. Your internal IT person stays your IT person.

How do you handle “who fixed what” tracking?

Everything in your ticketing system, tagged by team. Monthly report shows tickets opened/closed by your IT vs. us, by category, with average time to resolve. Your IT lead sees exactly what we did, when, and how. No black-box “we just handle it.”

What if our IT person leaves mid-engagement?

We have a documented “key-person continuity” plan. If your internal IT departs, we can either ramp up to full Managed IT temporarily while you hire, or stay co-managed and help your new hire onboard with full handover documentation. Either way, you are never stuck without IT coverage.

Do we have to use your ticketing system?

No. We work in yours. ConnectWise, Autotask, Zendesk, HubSpot, Jira Service Management, Freshdesk. We have integrated with all of them. The principle is “one workflow, two teams”. We never make your end-users learn a second system.

How quickly can we ramp surge engineers for a project?

For planned projects (Windows 11 rollout, M365 migration, office build): 2–4 weeks lead time, scoped engagement, fixed-fee or T&M. For emergency surge (ransomware recovery, vendor outage): same-day for our existing co-managed clients. Surge engineers come from our existing team. Same standards, same documentation, no contractor mystery.

What does the contract look like?

Month-to-month is the default. 1-year and 3-year agreements available for locked-in pricing. Your data, your ticketing history, your runbook docs are always exportable. You own them, not us. No auto-renewal traps.

Can we add or remove tiers mid-year?

Yes. Tier changes happen with 30 days’ notice. Most clients start at Helpdesk Overflow or Full Co-Managed and move up when the internal team grows or a project lands. Moving down is fine too. Co-managed is a function, not a flex tax.

Bring your IT lead. We will talk shop.

One hour with your IT person and one of our senior engineers. We will map your team’s gap, propose a tier that fits, and you leave with a written scope. Even if you do not hire us. Most of our co-managed signings happen because the internal IT person says “I like these people, let’s do it.”
